UPDATED VERSION Uncle Visor weighs in on music. Listen up!!!

When I was given an Ipod some time ago, a niece (who shall remain nameless) wondered if my play list would include things such as the Black Eyed Peas. At this point I am writing a short blog to explain what's on my ipod and how my seasoning and maturity have influenced my choices. BTW thanks to all those who have given me itunes gift cards to build my play list.

I have a number of tunes by Chris Botti, an outstanding jazz trumpeter. I also have quite a few things by Peter White and Russ Freeman, smooth jazz guitarists. Another guitarist that I like a lot is Jack Jezzro. Of course, I like many songs from the 50's and 60's such as "The Long and Winding Road" and "Here There and Everywhere", both Beatles songs. I also listen to standards on piano or guitar. Beegie Adair has done many of these very well. On piano I also like David Benoit for jazz.

Nancy Lamott is a great vocalist. Many of her songs have a melancholy tone, possibly because she had terminal cancer which cut short her career. Check her out. Eliane Elias does a great job on jazz vocals as well.

I make no apologies for my taste in music Landeelu. As you mature, you will no doubt gain full appreciation for some of these artists. My music career started at the age of 6 when I began accordion lessons (my mother forced me). I conducted our class choir in the 6th grade. I studied trombone for 3 years in junior high and I have sung in church choirs repeatedly. Impeccable credentials.

Over and out,
UV

So much for remaining nameless!!

In about 20 years I will come back to this post to see what kind of music I should be downloading. Until then I'll stick to whatever Memzy tells me to download. And it ain't Chris Botti, I'll tell you that much.

PS ::chanting:: More UV! More UV! More UV!!

In trying to "edit" the post it appears I accidentally deleted Landee and Memzy's comments so I cut and pasted. Strange computer troubles.

How did I miss "I have sung in church choirs repeatedly" the first time I read this? Funniest line evah.

PS Here's my FIRST comment which didn't show back up (did you want it that way? If so, "accidentally delete" this as well).

Accordian lessons? That's some serious street cred. Can you recommend a good jazz flutist? And I'm happy to see that BEP doesn't make your list.

This iPod playlist thing is a good question, tho. Did Landee share her playlist? Was it all Jason Mraz-y?

PS. I was going to transcribe that missing comment again, but I think you have it under control.

PPS. I wouldn't complain if UV decided to weigh-in at least once a week.

I can't believe someone took the time to transfer all those lamerz songs from vinyl/telegraph to diggy musak...and then "someone" took the time to PAY for them and d/l them!!!! I totally knew what neice way before you named the nameless btw. I was totally expecting you to have some motivational "tapes" on there too. Like Stevie Covey "The Covester" or some BYU coach from years yonderz. What you super need is some Justin Beiber "You smile I smile" to round out your collection. Srsly. yw.
p.s. WAYYYYYY MORE UV AND WAYYY LUVs the accordian pic!!! p.p.s. I was super saddy and never going to tell anyone that my Dad watches Moulin Rouge over and over again super loud..it's his secret shame...but now it doesn't even seem sorta nerdy! :) jay kay. U NO I HEART YOU!

I was like a foreign language reading those jazz players names. Kinda like when my husband tries to talk sports to me. I would be very embarrassed though to share my playlist with everyone BUT I am proud to say that their is no Black Eyed Peas on my iPod ::giving Landee and questioning look::

Good to read a post from you, UV!!!

You had me at "accordion lessons". That is all that had to be said to gain my complete respect for your playlist.

Sounds like I need to send Britton to your house for voice lessons...or accordian. :)
I think a weekly post on things you've done that we done know about is in order!
